Montecristi is located near the mouth of the Ya que del Norte River .approximately 135 km west of Puerto Plata, it is located at northwestern tip of the Dominican Republic a in the coastal lowlands near the border with Haiti. Monte cristi is said to have had the country’s first aqueduct, railroad and telephones installed.
